Preparing Families to Flourish
Summer Camp and Academy
Each summer Flourish provides an enriching summer camp experience for up to 125 students each year. Children attend a full day camp for 8 weeks that include breakfast, lunch and a snack. We offer weekly in-house and community field trips that relate to the theme of the camp. Our camp is staffed with professional educators that come to share their love for children and God with us during the summer. Annual scholarships may be available to assist families with the cost of camp.
Flourish Community Counseling
For several years, Flourish Summer Camp participants received the opportunity to obtain individual counseling through community providers at no-cost to the family. Staff members have received behavioral health education and training through licensed mental health providers. The goal is to continue expansion to provide year-round individual counseling services.
Mental Health Trainings
Through a generous grant from St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund, Flourish has been funded to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
